Pittsburgh artists should be there or be Squared

Art Squared will take place in Market Square at the end of September. A free event presented by the Art Resource Teaching Society, all proceeds will go towards Art Resource Teaching Society programs.

Over 80 artists will be demonstrating their art and teaching others how it is done over the course of this two-day happening. Genres included will be illustration, culinary art, painting, makeup and special effects, jewelry, graphic design, and photography. There will be plenty of hands-on experience for those who want to try their hand at some of these media. Visitors can also take part in live photo shoots, airbrush art, dance lessons, building chain mail and shields, music instruction in such instruments as guitar and ukulele, and laughter workshops. There will also be art auctions and children’s games.

Among the graphic arts topics which will be covered will be the creation of flyers and business cards. No doubt some of the artists teaching these topics will have had some experience with Pittsburgh printing companies. Flyers and business cards are two of the most important tools for business, as they are used to gain more business, promote new products and events, and get a brand name or company name known to the public.

The Art Resource Teaching Society is helping to replace some of the art programs that have been cut from schools. It also helps to provide art supplies to teachers and provides a network for artists in which those with more experience help those who are starting out. Art Squared intends to tick off all these boxes on September 28 – 29 from 11:00 am – 10:00 pm each day.
