Fundraiser brings back the twenties for a night

The 9th annual ‘Let Them Eat Cake’ fundraiser for the Midwife Center is taking place in just over a week in Pittsburgh.

This year’s theme is ‘Taking it to the Nines: a Roaring Good Time’ which both acknowledges that this is the ninth year of the event and pays homage to the ‘Roaring 20s’.

Guest will get to enjoy cake, champagne samples, beer, and wine. Music is set to be provided throughout the evening by the Boilermaker Jazz Band. Guests can also bid on items in the silent auction and pose for pictures in a 1920s photo booth. Local bakers and decorators are competing for awards, and judges will select their winners in amateur and professional categories. Guests also have the opportunity to vote for ‘Best taste’ and ‘Best decorated’ cakes.

Those who wish to meet with the bakers and decorators can purchase a VIP ticket, which entitles them to attend a private reception.

Among the items being used to help promote the event in the Pittsburgh area are posters and postcards. Local postcard printing services can supply such items to organizers of these types of events for a reasonable price.

Let Them Eat Cake will be held at the Pittsburgh Opera on April 5 from 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm. Tickets are $45 in advance or $60 at the door, and admission is for those aged 18 and over. The VIP reception is $100 or $35 for bakers. For more information, contact Rachel Dingfelder at 412-321-6880 x280.
