Dogs and their owners to raise money for American Cancer Society

‘Bark for Life of the South’ will take place in Pittsburgh early in May.

Bark for Life events take place all over the country and are a walkathon for dogs and their owners. Participants pay $25 for each dog and also solicit pledges from friends and family. There will be plenty of ‘professional’ dogs taking part in the walk to draw attention to their role in our society, including guide dogs, rescue dogs and police dogs. All funds raised will be donated to the American Cancer Society for research and to raise awareness.

The walk will start off with a “blessing of the animals”. In addition, there will be canine games like the bone drop, contests such as ‘Best Dressed Dog’, animal demonstrations, and vendors. It should be a day worth barking about for all ages – even for those in the community who are not dog owners.

Vendors will likely be selling dog or pet-related items such as treats, clothing, and other accessories. Sponsorships are also available. Businesses from all over the Pittsburgh area will likely wish to take part in Bark for Life, and may work with local printing companies to get ready for the event. This might include investing in services such as banner printing and flyer printing.

Bark for Life of the South will take place at the South Park Fairgrounds and Museum Building on May 10, beginning at 10:00 am. For more information, please contact Mary Lou at 412-343-4524.
