Artists of Yardley to put up annual art show this October

September 30, 2013 by

Artoberfest is returning to Yardley this October. The annual event is presented by the Artists of Yardley.

The day’s events include arts and crafts vendors, art demonstrations, music, workshops, the Abundance art show, and a pig roast dinner. Also, 15 full-sized decorated pigs currently living in various areas of the town will be auctioned off, and there will be a vintage camper tour as well.

Participants pay a fee (from $5 to $20) for the necessary materials to take part in such workshops, to make items like ‘Nontraditional traditional corn husk dolls’ with Nancy Allen for those 13 and up. Other offerings include ‘Soldered charms’ taught by Janine Pettit, ‘Block printing: fun and design’ by Elizabeth Taraba, and ‘Burlap farmers’ market bag’ with Judy Malloy.

This annual art event is designed to highlight the work of the Artists of Yardley, and makes for an opportunity for the artists while also giving the public a chance to see what sort of art is being produced in the area. While it is early yet, the event might encourage visitors to start buying holiday gifts for their friends and loved ones.

Artoberfest attracts visitors from all around the area, including nearby Morrisville. Local print companies have probably been asked to provide marketing materials such as flyers.

Artoberfest will take place at Patterson Farm on October 5 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Admission is free. The pig roast dinner begins at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children aged 12 and under. Call 215-493-1205 for more information.
