Media artists to share their work

The tenth annual Community Arts Center (CAC) Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will take place on State Street on September 22 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Admission is free.

Artists who wish to take part in the festival must apply to the CAC and be evaluated by a jury. A $20 entry fee applies for each work submitted, plus a fee of $100 for CAC members or $110 for non-members for a 10 x 10 foot space.

Artists are responsible for providing tables, tents, chairs and whatever else they require. They might also want to arrange with Media printing companies to provide them with services such as banner printing and postcard printing in advance. A banner hung over a tent or from a table would help draw the attention of those passing by. Many artists use postcards as business cards, with the front of the postcard depicting an example of their artwork and with contact information printed on the back. These cards are either kept as souvenirs or mailed to a friend of the person who picked it up. This often results in commissions for the artists from all over the area.

In addition to the booths, the festival will feature demonstrations by the artists, food concessions, and live music. The festival will be a great opportunity for local artists to showcase their work but it will also be a chance for those in the community to discover a new artist. Many people are not aware of the artistic talent in their cities and festivals such as this help to change that.
