Downtown Media will celebrate Bastille Day

June 27, 2013 by

Bastille Day is celebrated the world over on July 14 each year. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 which helped to bring about the French Revolution. The city of Media celebrates this day each year with a street festival.

State Street will be closed to traffic allowing local business and artists to display and sell their merchandise to interested passers-buy. There will also be musical performances, dance lessons and outdoor dining. There will also be children’s activities, artist demonstrations, and street performers.

It is likely that much of the food being offered for sale will be French-inspired, as will some of the artwork for sale. Even for those not remotely connected to France, it should be a fun evening for all.

Arts and crafts vendors will likely be selling items like jewelry, paintings, pottery, and clothing. Stores in downtown Media will also be open late for shopping. It should all offer a great opportunity for local artisans and businesses to let people in the community know what they have to give.

Media printing companies have likely been asked to help the organizers of the celebration to prepare. This might include banners for decoration, signs for direction, and flyers to advertise the event throughout the area.

The 7th annual Bastille Day in Downtown Media will take place on July 13 from 6:00 pm – 10:30 pm. Admission is free and it is a family friendly event. For more information, call the Media Business Authority at 610-566-5039.
