Santa to come to town at the Mardi Gras Parade

October 27, 2012 by

The 62nd annual Mardi Gras Parade will take place on Main Street between Mitchell Ave. and Park Dr. in a few weeks’ time. While it is free, a special commemorative button will be on sale for $1. The parade is presented by the Lansdale Mardi Gras Committee.

The theme of this year’s parade is ‘Jingle all the way down Main St.’. Anyone in the city can apply to take part in the parade. Commercial entries must pay a fee of $100 to participate and the parade will feature equestrian teams, marching bands, antique vehicles, floats and, of course, Santa Claus.

Prizes are awarded to the best participants in the parade in a variety of categories. Those participants representing local businesses will no doubt be working with Lansdale printing companies to prepare for the parade. Banner printing services will ensure that everyone along the parade route is able to see who the float or marching group is representing.

In advance of the parade on November 17, the Mardi Gras Pre-Pancake Pandemonium will be held at Manna on Main Street from 8:00 am – 11:00 am. Tickets are $5 and the pancake breakfast is presented by the Lansdale Business Association. Proceeds will go to Manna on Main Street – a soup kitchen and food pantry that provides food for those who are facing hard times. It also provides emergency housing, financial assistance, and referrals to other services in the North Penn area.

Following this, the parade will begin at 1:00 pm. For more information, call 215-920-3041.
