January could be the month to get creative

Many organizations are dedicated to providing art instruction to the public and one such group is the ArtClash collective. One of its projects, Fun A Day, will be marking its ninth year in 2013.

Last year, it took place in 20 cities throughout the United States and, so far, 19 cities have signed up for the 2013 event. Fun A Day challenges participants to create a different work of art each day in January. These works can include portraits, poems, illustrations, songs, puppets, books, boxes, or basically that requires some craft and creativity. At the end of the month, a group show is held to exhibit all of the creations – which may or may not be sold.

The city of Lansdale is taking part in Fun A Day again this year. Local printing companies might very well be working with the organizers to get the word out about this creative venture. Those participating will likely find much satisfaction in creating a work of art every day for a month. Also, it may give new artists their first sale and be the launching pad to getting their name known in the community.

Lansdale Fun A Day will take place throughout the month of January. A group show of all the art created will be held at the Third and Walnut Bar on February 8. Admission is free, some of the works will be raffled off, and there will be live musical entertainment.
