Penn State offers educational opportunities in Hanover

August 21, 2012 by

Starting next week, Hanover residents will have the chance to study with a highly-regarded educational institution without needing to travel far from home.

Penn State’s York campus will offer several for-credit, continuing education courses in the Hanover area during the fall semester. The courses will be offered at the Hanover Hospital and Guthrie Memorial Library. To better fit in with people’s busy schedules, the courses are offered during the evening instead of during the day.

The course offered at Hanover Hospital is ‘Introduction to Meteorology’. It will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 9:40 pm. The first day of class will be August 29, from which point it will run until the middle of December.

People who are in the market to develop their public speaking skills can benefit from the ‘Effective Speech’ course offered at Guthrie Memorial Library in Hanover. The speech course begins on August 30 and meets on Thursday nights thereafter from 5:15 pm to 8:00 pm.

Penn State will also offer two math courses for students, including College Algebra 1 and Calculus 1. These courses also meet at Guthrie Memorial Library on Wednesday and Tuesday nights respectively.

Students enrolled in any of the Penn State courses have the option of applying the credits they earn towards a college degree or a certificate. To promote the Hanover courses, Penn State’s admission office could make use of printing services. Local print companies could produce brochures outlining the courses, providing descriptions and enrollment information.
