Things heat up in Doylestown as first Bikram Yoga studio opens

February 6, 2014 by

The first Bikram Yoga studio in Doylestown, and in Bucks County, opened at the end of last month. The studio has a Grand Opening celebration planned for February 15.

A free Bikram class will be on offer at the grand opening, at 3:30pm. The studio will offer cocktails and refreshments after the class. Bikram Yoga Doylestown can use postcard printing to advertise the celebration and to offer new students a deal on their first class.

Bikram yoga is different than other styles. It’s the “original hot yoga,” according to the director of the new studio, Molly Mitnick. Over the course of 90 minutes, students move through a series of 26 poses and two breathing techniques. The room in which the yoga is performed is 105 degrees with a humidity of 40 percent.

The style of yoga is a franchise and there are studios offering the specific style around the world. While the notion of hot yoga might seem uncomfortable, it is supposed to detoxify the body and improve flexibility.

The new studio, located on South Easton Road, in the Shops at Blueberry Hill, offers classes seven days a week. Classes are held in the morning, afternoon and evening. Drop-in classes are $20, and 10 to 30 class cards and unlimited packages are also available. New students can sign up for an introductory week for just $20.
