Celebrate with the Plush Barbie Club

March 27, 2012 by

The “Pamper’d Pink” Spring Pantry Party will take place in the City Line Avenue KFC Building on March 31 from 5-8pm. Admission is free; raffle and dollar auction tickets can be purchased.

The event is sponsored by the Plush Barbie Club, P.B.C, an organization of young women from 22-35 which mentors younger girls and women. Their mission is to help “to diminish negative media stereotypes surrounding young inner-city women” and they are “committed to growth and success in their own lives.” Among the programs they provide are Camp P2, which mentors girls from ages 9-17, and the Enrich Academy for young women aged 18-22. They also provide peer to peer support for one another.

Pamper’d Pink will feature dollar auctions for prizes such as gift baskets, gift cards and a gift tree, raffles, games, door prizes, free food and parking, pastries for sale, demonstrations of P.B.C. programs, makeup, and food. It’ll be a fun evening for young women in Bala Cynwyd. Local printing companies will most likely provide the posters and signs to advertise this event; as well as items such as banners to decorate the hall where the event is being held.

Organizations such as P.B.C. are necessary in today’s world; girls often receive mixed messages about the kind of lives they can lead, especially those in the inner-city. P.B.C. gives those girls and women involved in the organization the self esteem to be their own person regardless of what anyone else says.
