Bala Cynwyd welcomes new yogurt shop

The frozen yogurt trend continues to rage on in Bala Cynwyd, with a new, family-run store expected to open sometime in April.

Yosl’s Frozen Yogurt will be taking over the storefront formerly occupied by a Verizon store at 137 Montgomery Avenue. The new yogurt outlet will offer 12 flavors of frozen yogurt. Customers will be able to choose from a selection of 50 toppings. All the yogurt will contain live active cultures and is certified kosher by the Orthodox Union. Certain flavors are also gluten-free.

The flavors on offer will change from week to week. Sample flavors include Berry, Dulce de Leche, and Angel Food Cake. Toppings on offer will include sauces such as caramel, fresh fruits, nuts, and chocolate chips.

The frozen yogurt shop is owned by the Rubenstein family. They chose the Bala Cynwyd location because Lori Rubenstein, the owner’s wife, is from Penn Valley. The Rubensteins continue to have a number of family members in the Bala Cynwyd area.

The fact that the yogurt shop is a family-run venture is reflected in the name. Yosl’s is named for owner Mark Rubenstein’s father, who passed on three years ago. The entire family, including husband wife, their daughter and her husband, and two grandsons, will be helping to run the store.

A sign is up on the front of the store, but renovations continue inside. Perhaps when the store is ready to open, Yosl’s can make use of Bala Cynwyd postcard printing to distribute opening day information or even coupons to customers.
