Westbury residents invited to the Pineapple Ball Pre-Party

November 15, 2013 by

Every year, the town of Garden City, a few miles away from Westbury, hosts a Pineapple Ball. For the second year in a row, the town will also hold a pre-party in a few weeks time.

Attendees can meet the Pineapple Ball honorees at the pre-party, mingle with other Long Islanders, and enjoy live musical performances. The pre-party also features hors d’oeuvres and a selection of beverages.

The events are sponsored by the Garden City Chamber of Commerce. The upcoming ball is being hosted by the Chamber’s directors, Jackie Goode, and Joanne Adams.

The honorees for 2014 include Ann Sullivan, the swim team coach for Garden City High School, for the community achievement award. Lisa Smith, the owner of Coquette, is being honored as businessperson of the year. Robert Schoelle, Jr., the village adminstrator will receive the President’s Award, while the committee behind the Garden City Turkey Trot Race will take the honor for Citizen of the Year. The Chamber can use stationery printers to create award certificates for each honoree in advance of the ball.

Part of the proceeds from the Pineapple Ball will go towards the Garden City Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which provides a Garden City High School senior with a scholarship. The proceeds from the event will also help local families in financial need.

The pre-party will take place on December 2 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at POSH in the Garden City Hotel. Tickets to the pre-party are $40 and need to be booked in advance.
