Nanuet Mall to be replaced by open-air shopping center

The Simon Property Group recently announced that the old Nanuet Mall will be reimaged and converted into ‘The Shops at Nanuet’, an open-air town center with brand new shopping, dining, and entertainment experiences. No doubt the real estate company is using flyer printing and poster printing to let people in the area know about the new shopping area, which is slated to open in October.

According to the executive vice president of Simon Property Group, Tom Schneider, the idea of The Shops at Nanuet is to create a main street for the region with an open-air environment that will help to differentiate it from other retail venues in the area.

Alex Gromack, Town Supervisor for Clarkstown, is very happy that something is being done with the site, as the mall had been deteriorating over the past 10 years since the Palisades Center Mall opened in 1998. Gromack believes that the inside of it had become bleak and stores were leaving, with a hair salon and a restaurant departed at the last count. As a result, the tax income for the town has also declined.

The Shops at Nanuet will number between 50 and 60 and include a Regal movie theater, a Fairway market, and a 24 Hour Fitness center. The development will also include Sear’s and Macy’s as anchor stores, and it expected that more than 1,000 construction jobs will be created, as well as 1,500 retail positions – so plenty of opportunities for business card printing could lie ahead.

Gromack added that all the remaining tenants are out of the Mall and that demolition has already started.
