Enjoy family fun in Nanuet

The fifth annual Nanuet Family Festival will be held this year tomorrow, Saturday, June 2, between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm at the Nanuet Outdoor Resource Center, 135 Convent Road.

Live music, inflatables, and a dunk tank will provide fun for young and old, and food, drink, and ice cream will be for sale. With free admission and ample parking on-site, over 1000 people are expected to attend.

More than 30 local vendors will also be present, as well as a sports clinic and health walk. All vendors will be offering family-friendly activities. This is a prime opportunity for businesses and non-profit organizations to reach out to the community, and local print companies will be called on to provide services such as flyer printing and banner printing.

This year’s event is a fundraiser for the Harold Fogelman Pond, a new feature of the Nanuet Outdoor Education Center that is designed to bring students in kindergarten through grade 12 a greater understanding of their environment through the study of a pond ecosystem. The pond was created last year and dedicated to the memory of Harold Fogelman, a longtime member of the Nanuet Board of Education. Dry, warm weather this year, coupled with minimal snow, has caused the pond to lose some water and require partial renovation.

The festival is sponsored by the Nanuet Family Resource Center in collaboration with the Rockland 21st Century Collaborative for Children and Youth. Corporate sponsors are Capital One Bank and Uncle Louie G Ice Cream.
