New York-based networking group to host gathering March 1st

The New York Open Business Networking group is holding its next meet-up on the 1st of March.

While most businesspeople are likely used to the types of networking events that require business card printing and perhaps a bit of free mingling, New York Open Business is putting an interesting twist on its event. On the group’s page, organizers are calling the meeting a “Pitch Public” and explaining things as follows:

“This is an opportunity for you to pitch your business to the group. Real quick… 3 minutes – we’ll let up to 10 people/businesses pitch in a very public space. The audience will be allowed 2 minutes of questions / feedback. If you can do it here you can pitch anywhere.

Explain the business in a sentence

What is the problem or opportunity you are exploiting

How does your business operate

How do you earn What is your marketplace

Who are you working with What is your competition

What are your plans” (sic.)

With an official start of 7:00 pm, it’s immediately clear that this event has been scheduled to give entrepreneurs and other professionals some time to arrive.

Able to claim a membership of more than 120 despite being a fairly young networking group, New York Open Business Networking has definitely gotten off to a strong beginning.

Merrick professionals may want to consider making an appearance at Madison Atrium for this one. The chance to make a pitch in this type of setting doesn’t come up very often.
