Merrick residents invited to a day of fun down by the sea

The 37th Annual Family Festival by the Sea promises to be a weekend of events and activities everyone in the family will enjoy.

The town of Hempstead is getting ready for an expected crowd of 30,000 people or more who will be arriving at the beach for the popular fall event. The festival will include food, crafts and much more. There will be a sand sculpture contest, pony rides, and puppet shows. A biathlon will take place on Sunday as well as animal acts, a petting zoo, and plenty of other events and activities all weekend long.

Vendors are still welcome to join in on the fun by contacting the Department of Parks and Recreation at (516) 292-9000 – ext. 7382. Vendor applications are also available to download on the festival website. Businesses have the opportunity to use this busy weekend to get their banners and promotional products ready and reach out to new customers as well as enjoy all of the excitement with their friends and neighbors.

The festival is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24, from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM at the Lido Beach Town Park at 630 Lido Boulevard in Hempstead. Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no admission cost or parking fee.
