New York Funk Exchange comes home

January 13, 2013 by

People in the Amityville or Melville area may be noticing things getting a just little funky towards the end of January. This is because the New York Funk Exchange will be preforming at Ollie’s Point Bar and Grill on January 30.

A nine-piece funk and soul band, New York Funk Exchange was created in 2007 and has performed with artists such as Fred Wesley & the New JB’s, Topaz, Nas, Galactic, Melvin Seals, Eddie Money, Martha and the Vandellas, Damian Marley and more. Creating a unique mix of jazz, R&B, rock, and old school funk, the band is thrilled to be back preforming in its home territory of New York after touring throughout the country.

As doubtless should be mentioned by any print company that wishes to undertake the band’s publicity through poster or flyer printing, the show will feature lead singer Serena’s smoky vocals, the infamous ‘Wall Street Horns’ section, and a vibe that leaves their listeners with an excitement lasting all night long.

Ollie’s Point Bar and Grill, on Merrick Road, seeks to bring new and soulful talent to its loyal customers by hosting numerous events and musical talent throughout the year. The doors open at 7:00 pm but audience members are always encouraged to come early and enjoy drinks and dinner. Tickets are $10 and can be bought in advance online. This event is for ages 18 and over. All ticket holders will have their identification checked at the door for admittance.
