Massapequa Park residents invited to celebrate winter

The Winter Celebration Festival at Connetquot River State Park Preserve takes place again this year, no doubt interesting people in Massapequa Park.

The free family-friendly event is for anyone that would like to enjoy the preserve while learning more about the natural beauty of the area during winter. The event will include a variety of hands-on activities and experiments conducted at various stations. The Environmental Team from the park will be on hand at each station to aid guests with the activity taking place.

The preserve is a protected area for habitat and breeding for fish, animals and game birds. The 3,473 acres of land is home to a variety of nesting birds, waterfowl, and deer as well as the natural home for a number of rare plants and other interesting flora. Visitors should feel free to bring their cameras with them for the day to capture images for their own personal poster printing or scrapbooks.

The Winter Celebration Festival is on January 26 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There is no admission fee, parking fee or charge to take part in any of the activities. No registration is needed to attend either.

Visitors can stay throughout the event or arrive whenever they would like during the celebration, as all activities will continue throughout the day. The Connetquot River State Park Preserve is located at 3525 Sunrise Highway in Oakdale.
