Local kids to get their own day

Later this month, as part of the U.S. Open festivities, Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day will be taking place at Arthur Ashe Stadium in flushing Meadows, New York.

The day begins at 9:30 am at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center with a ground festival that will include all kinds of activities for kids’ enjoyment. There will be face painting, balloon artists, storytellers, hair braiding, and even a juggling workshop. Children under 10 will also be able to play tennis against each other and learn to appreciate the game.

Beginning at 10am there will be a concert featuring performers like the City Kidz, Trevor Jackson, and Before You Exit. At noon, the gates to Arthur Ashe Stadium will be opened, and from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm there will be a stadium show featuring performances by singers Austin Mahone and Ariana Grande. Throughout the day, children and family members will also be able to watch the professional tennis players practice and warm up for their matches.

It is likely that promoters will turn to flyer printing companies to create promotional materials that they can use to advertise for this event. Flyers or posters placed in neighborhoods throughout New York would no doubt help bring in more attendance. Populated areas of Queens, like Long Island City , would be especially great areas to advertise, since Flushing is part of Queens Borough.

Taking place on August 24th, Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day is sponsored by Hess and takes place the day before the U.S. Open begins. Tickets for the stadium show range from $10 to $20.
