Long Island Hellcat Tryouts to be held on Sunday

August 15, 2012 by

This coming Sunday, August 19, the Long Island Hellcats travel softball team will be holding tryouts in East Norwich, New York, a short drive away from Levittown. Any experienced travel player who was born in 1998 or 1997 is welcome to try out.

The Long Island Hellcats is a non-profit organization that runs six travel softball teams and four travel baseball teams for kids up to 16 years of age. They charge a small registration fee for players and are supported by the Fritz Coudert Foundation. They also run fund raisers to support the league, such as car washes, with which players are expected to help.

Players who make the team can look forward to paid, professional coaches during the fall and 2013 seasons. They will participate in eight or nine local tournaments and an additional travel tournament. Practices are held weekly and feature semi-private batting instruction, as well as scrimmage games that are meant to increase players’ playing time and help them to be more prepared for actual games.

The tryouts will last from 10:00 am until noon and it does not cost anything to attend or participate. There is little doubt that print companies will be working hard to create flyers to help promote the upcoming tryouts, so that anyone who might be interested will have heard about it. These printing companies may even be called upon throughout the season to notify parents and spectators of upcoming games, as well as fundraising events for the league.
