Islip hosts its Historic House Tour

December 1, 2012 by

Tomorrow, December 2, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet (HSIS) will be holding its 19th Annual Holiday House Tour. Patrons will be treated to a tour of various historical houses throughout Islip where they will be greeted by tour guides in period dress. The tour will end at an historic church, where there will be light refreshments and entertainment. Guests will also be welcome to participate in both a 50/50 Raffle and a Chinese Auction. Attendees are also encouraged to bring toys to donate to the United States Marine Corps’ ‘Toys for Tots’ program.

The HSIH is responsible for the preservation of several houses and artifacts in Islip, New York. It was founded in 1992 and has since installed 23 historic markers and created six historic street markers in the Islip hamlet.

For those who are interested, advanced tickets for the tours have already gone on sale at the Nook & Cranny Gift Boutique in Islip, and were previously available by mail. Admission is $20 for adults age 16 or older. On the day of the tour, tickets will be $25. The tours run tomorrow afternoon from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

It is possible that the HSIH will be hiring print companies to create flyers to promote this tour in areas outside of Islip. People from nearby towns like Brentwood, Sayville, or even possibly as far away as Levittown might be interested in signing up, if they are made aware of the event.
