SEA Paddle returns to east coast

July 17, 2013 by

The seventh annual SEA Paddle charity event will be held in just under a month’s time in New York City. The event involves a 25-mile paddle with teams and individual paddlers raising money to support various charities involved in autism.

This year, the event will also benefit environmental efforts related to Hurricane Sandy relief exertions still taking place after the storm hit the eastern seaboard last year. People from surrounding cities, no doubt including Flushing and Bellerose, are actively involved in various projects and many are planning to participate in the SEA Paddle.

To begin preparing and getting in shape for this strenuous paddle event, interested parties are encouraged to participate in one of the upcoming paddle events. One is scheduled for July 21 in Rumson, New Jersey and the other is taking place on August 1 in Bradley Beach, New Jersey.

A pre-registration party will take place on August 8 at the South St. Seaport and will include a Beekman Beer Garden party featuring the various 2013 sponsors.

The event will kick off with registration taking place at the Brooklyn Bridge Beach at 7:30 am on August 9. Returning this year, Darrick Doerner, known as a “big wave legend”, will participate in the paddle.

Following the event, an Aloha Party will be held at the Chelsea Brewery Company located in Chelsea Piers. There will be plenty of great food, drinks and live music and the public is welcome to attend, with banner printing likely to be used to help them find their way around.
