On Saturday, July 14, the Music in the Garden Series will be presenting Radio Jarocho at the Oak Allee located within the Queens Botanical Garden at 43-50 Main Street in Flushing, New York. This performance will begin at 6:00 pm.

This musical performing group is being sponsored by Astoria Federal Savings and performs traditional “Son Jarocho” style Spanish music and dance. The majority of the music it plays has Mexican, Afro-Caribbean, and southern Vera Cruz-based roots.

Radio Jarocho is a five-piece ensemble that has a vast contemporary repertoire, along with a number of original compositions, and during this evening performance it will play a number of its newer pieces from its newly released CD, entitled Café Café! Radio Jarocho has performed in New York, Chicago, Boston, Washington, and many other major American cities. In addition, guests who attend this special evening performance will have the opportunity to enjoy a Spanish tour of the gardens, which will begin at 4:30 pm. Between the garden tour and the performance, beginning at 5:30 pm, there will be a selection of traditional Mexican foods available to purchase and enjoy on the Terrace of the Allee.

Poster printing and flyer printing may have been used to advertise and promote this special Spanish evening at the Allee. Admission to this event is free with the regular admission to the gardens. This is a rain or shine event where handicap access is available and everyone is welcome. For more information, please visit the Queens Bontanical Garden’s website.
