Chance to ride in the Tour de Cure

Not far from Fairport in New York, the 2014 Tour de Cure cycling event will take place this summer. Filled with exciting fun, riders can participate in the level most comfortable for their riding skills.

The event is held as a fundraiser for the fight to stop diabetes. Funds are used for research, advocacy, and education for the American Diabetes Association. Registration is available for individuals, family and friend teams, corporate teams, and club or organization teams.

National sponsors include Gold’s Gym, Lilly Diabetes, Primal Cycling Apparel, Macrobar, and BeeWell for Life. Local sponsors are also getting in on the act and include SageRutty, Gallo & Iacovangelo, The DiMarco Group, Manning & Napier, Novo Nordisk, Fox and ABC, McDougall Communications, and Rochester General Health System.

A non-profit organization, the American Diabetes Association has a mission to prevent and cure diabetes. As current trends show diabetes to be a fast-growing epidemic, it is estimated that a third of our population will have the disease by 2050 if current trends continue.

Funds from the event will provide fund sending children to camp and providing educational resources. A crucial initiative for the American Diabetes Association is advocate for the rights of individuals afflicted with diabetes.

As participants have fun raising money during the June 8 event, they will also have a chance to earn gifts such as electronics and apparel. Riders raising $1,000 or more are designated as Champions to Stop Diabetes.

Banner printing is an important part of the planning for events of this type. The banners direct the racers throughout the course.
