Family fun and adult comedy on tap this month

December 20, 2013 by

It’s time for family night out on Friday, December 27, at Once Upon a Sunday, 2943 Long Beach Road in Oceanside.

Just 30 minutes from Deer Park, this will be a fun event based upon the Disney movie ‘Frozen’. It begins at 1:00 pm with a craft event allowing kids to create a melted snowman ornament.

Snack time includes a beverage and music from the movie. The event winds up with a sundae making session. Drop off is available for kids age five and up.

In terms of fun for the adults, standup comedian Joe DeVito will entertain at 8:00 pm that night at the Brokerage Comedy Club, 2797 Merrick Road in Bellmore.

DeVito’s comedy centers on relationships, current events, and his Italian American family. A former journalist and writer, he has plenty of experience to pull from. He has performed at the Just for Laughs Festival in Canada and on the Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

Also at 8:00 pm that night, poster printing is likely to be in increased demand as Joe Starr performs at the Governor’s Comedy Club, 90 Division Avenue in Levittown. Starr has headlined in nightclubs, theaters, and casinos across America and Canada, where he has opened for such names as Father Guido Sarducci, Robert Klein, Soupy Sales, and Jay Leno.

Star mixes jokes with storytelling and physical humor, which has made him popular on Comedy Central. He has appeared in the moves ‘The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn’, ‘Date Night’, and ‘Dirty Movie’.
