Northvale area mall hosting pre-Super Bowl 5K race

Residents of Northvale and other communities in northern New Jersey are preparing to welcome the 2014 Super Bowl to their home state by participating in a fun-filled athletic event of their own.

Just one week before the highly anticipated NFL championship match arrives at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, the Big Game 5K will be kicking off at the Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus. Print companies may be receiving more orders than usual as the non-profit organizations involved in this football-themed fundraiser request promotional flyers and posters.

Runners and walkers from every age category are encouraged to take part in the festivities. The 5K course will wrap around the perimeter of the shopping center and will be suitable for individuals of all physical abilities. Participants will also have the option of walking one mile indoors. Each contender will receive a T-shirt, goodie bag, and medal for completing the race. Attendees are invited to stay for a tailgate party after they have crossed the finish line.

All of the proceeds from the event will go toward its sponsoring foundations and groups. These include Children’s Aid and Family Services, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and local chapters of the Girl Scouts and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

The Big Game 5K is scheduled for Sunday, January 26 at 9:00 am. It will take place at One Garden State Plaza. Interested parties may pre-register online for $30 until January 20 or register for $35 on the morning of the race.
