Fair Lawn starts month with new hotel opening

September 6, 2013 by

The city of Fair Lawn will be home to a Marriott Residence Inn, an extended-stay hotel, to be located new Interstate 77 and state Route 18.

Groundbreaking for the new accommodation offering occurred on September 3 and construction is expected to be completed within a year. No doubt the owners of the property are using flyer printing and poster printing to let visitors and businesspeople become aware of this hotel – the third one in the city.

The cost for the 76,000 square-foot building is expected to be $11m, and it will be four stories in height and have more than 100 rooms, which will include seven ADA-accessible suites, six two-bedroom suites, 18 one-bedroom suites, and 76 studio suites. Each of these will include a full kitchen, desk, couch, HD television, and luxorious bedding. Additional amenities at the hotel will include a fitness center, whirlpool, inside pool, wireless Internet access, an outdoor sports center, and complimentary breakfast.

According to the Mayor of Fair Lawn, Bill Roth, the project has been in the works for several years but has been derailed, primarily due to the economy and the reluctance of banks to loan money. The city approved the plans for the hotel some time ago and he strongly believes in the strength of the plan, and that an extended-stay hotel is greatly needed in the community.

The city currently has two hotels, a Hilton and a Doubletree by Hilton, both on West Market Street.
