Time to get a jump on fall cleanup in North Versailles

August 30, 2017 by

Electronic waste can contain chemicals and other components that can be hazardous to people and the environment, and a North Versailles area event will offer people a way to dispose of it safely.

The organizers of this e-waste recycling day will accept a wide variety of items and dispose of them safely. Computers, including laptops and hard drives, as well as related equipment like keyboards, circuit boards, speakers, cables, LCD monitors, routers, phones, and adapters can be brought for disposal. The items will be completely destroyed, which will prevent any information they might contain from still being accessible.

Those who plan on attending the function are reminded that some electronics will not be accepted. These include CRT-style monitors and televisions, alkaline batteries, televisions, large appliances that contain Freon, and universal waste. A fee of $10 will be charged for each hard drive that is shredded, and there are several other items for which a $10.00 fee will be applied. Poster printing can be utilized to create advertisements that let the public know when and where an event like this will be taking place in their local area.

This shred day will be held at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Murrysville on September 9. It will run from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, and all are welcome to get a head start on their fall household cleanup.
