Four new members join Newark Fire Department

The Newark Fire Department recently welcomed four new firefighters with a formal ceremony. All four of the new arrivals, Beau Daubenmire, Dylan Mullen, Jonathan Spohn, and Rich Nethers, have worked for other agencies.

Beau Daubenmire attended Fairfield Union High School, and was graduated from Columbus State Community College. He has been a firefighter/paramedic for almost 20 years.

Dylan Mullen is a graduate of Johnstown-Monroe High School and Central Ohio Technical College. He has worked for a number of Licking County agencies, and now resides in Newark.

Jonathan Spohn is also a graduate of Central Ohio Technical College, as well as Hocking College. He has held positions in a number of agencies in both Licking and Perry Counties.

Rich Nethers is a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the Ohio National Guard. He served for a total of 12 years, including one overseas deployment to Iraq, before being honorably discharged in 2015. Before accepting the position in Newark, Nethers worked for nearly four years with the city of Delaware.

The department has over 70 firefighters, most of whom are also paramedics. They work out of four different stations and are available 365 days per year, 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

An occasion like this is important to the community, so officials might work with a brochure printing company to create booklets introducing the new personnel.
