The ‘King’ to be celebrated in Albuquerque

April 4, 2013 by

The ‘Weekend with Elvis in Historic Old Town’ will be a night that brings back memories for many people in this community. It harks back to 1956, when Elvis visited Albuquerque and played a great show at the ‘Armory’, just before the release of ‘Heartbreak Hotel’.

This event takes the form of an Elvis karaoke concert and will be happening in Old Town Square. The public is invited to join in and step up to vocalize at the microphone. Those who plan to come out and enjoy this fantastic event are invited to wear styles from the 1950s and dress like the ‘King’ himself, thought this is not mandatory to have a good time, of course.

When Elvis visited Albuquerque, he stayed at the Bottger Mansion, an old town bed and breakfast and enjoyed an exciting visit with the community. This is surely the next best thing to a visit from the legendary singer, and the audience is sure to be clapping along. Before the night ends, the top Elvis performer in the group will be officially crowned, and an Elvis trivia contest will also form part of the evening.

The evening of fun is free to attend and will be happening on Friday, April 5, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Old Town Plaza located at 200 Romero NW in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
