Walk for Thought and raise cash for charity

April 9, 2012 by

The 10th Walk for Thought will take place at Oakledge Park in Burlington, on May 19 from 9am – 12 noon. Funds raised will go to support the Brain Injury Association of Vermont and this year’s goal is to raise $40,000. A continental breakfast will be served to all walkers.

The Brain Injury Association of Vermont provides support groups for Vermonters living with brain injuries and funding for prevention and education programs. Walkers collect pledges from friends, family, co-workers, or event strangers to raise money for the organization. Those who raise a certain amount of money are eligible for incentive prizes; for example, those who raise $100 can receive a commemorative t-shirt. Those who have no need for the prizes can donate them back to the Brian Injury Association to be used to raise more funds.

Companies from nearby Hinesburg could try to motivate their employees to either take part in the Walk for Thought or to donate money to the cause. Local printing companies can supply items such as t-shirts and hats, they can provide poster printing services to inform and motivate workers and they can even provide flags to wave to support those who are walking.

Whichever way it is done, taking part in the walk will bring employees closer together and will be an excellent team-building exercise for all. Also, customers and potential customers will appreciate that the company did so much to support such a worthy charity and might be more willing to do business with them.
