Upcoming quilt show has everything covered

The 31st annual Champlain Valley Quilters’ Guild Quilt Show is taking place over two days in Shelburne next month. The theme of this year’s show is ‘Inspired by Color’.

The show will feature quilts by members of the guild and related quilt makers. Some of the quilts will be judged and ribbons will be awarded to the winners, with the challenge for the competition being to create a quilt based on the show theme.

Specific displays will feature the quilts of Anne Standish and her students, Sue McGuire’s Friendship quilts, and Andre Emmell’s Quilts of Valor, which are sent to current military personnel and veterans.

There will also be quilting demonstrations, raffles for a quilt and baskets, a scavenger hunt for children, quilt appraisals by appointment, and a cafe. Vendors will also be on hand selling related products, supplies, quilts, and homemade crafts. They will receive 80% of all sales, while the rest will go towards funding future shows by the Guild.

This popular annual event will probably attract visitors from all over the area, including nearby Hinesburg. Local printing companies will no doubt be asked by the organizers to provide them with services like flyer printing to help advertise the show.

The Quilt Show will take place at the Field House in Shelburne from October 19 – 20, beginning at 10:00 am on each day. Tickets are $6, or free to those aged 12 and under. For more information, contact Wendy Thompson at 802-872-7025.
