Montpelier offers chance to meet legislators

January 29, 2013 by

The annual Legislative Leadership Luncheon of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce is coming up in early February and will feature Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin and other legislators who will be discussing a variety of topics of interest to business owners.

Others appearing at the luncheon will be the Lieutenant Governor, the Senate President, and the Speaker of the House. There will be a forum-type discussion of topics, such as healthcare, funding for tourism, worker’s compensation, state taxation, training of the workforce, and business development and planning. It is very likely that those attending will have the opportunity to ask their government representatives questions. Attending this should help either settle people’s minds about what their elected legislators have in mind for the upcoming year or allow them to argue for changes in those plans. Events such as this allow all sides to be heard and all ideas to be considered.

This annual event draws business owners from all over the state, including nearby Hinesburg. Local printing companies have probably been called upon to provide services to the organizers such as flyer printing to market the event. Also, it is very probable that many of those planning to attend will be arranging for business card printing in advance so that they have enough to exchange with their fellow business peers.

The Legislative Leadership Luncheon will take place at Capitol Plaza Montpelier on February 5 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Tickets are $30 for Vermont Chamber of Commerce members or $40 for non-members. For more information, call 802-223-3443.
