August 16, 2013 by

The featured event of this coming weekend in Newburyport is the third ArtWalk of the season. No doubt the various galleries and artists are using business card printing, so as to be able to distribute contact information to people passing through the galleries and attending various receptions.

At the Chameleon Gallery on Liberty Street, there will be a solo exhibition of expressive landscapes done by Maria Malatesta, an artist and instructor at the Montserrat College of Art. The artist will be at the gallery on Saturday August 17 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm for an opening reception.

The Connor Summers Gallery will feature new work by Michael Updike, Cathy Connor and the late Jim Mickelson. They all have a unique collection that covers the contemporary scene.

The Sweethaven Studio will display musical paintings by Alan Bull. Among the selections will be the Parrish Percussion Project, the Zach Field Drum Studio, and several new paintings and sketches that highlight the musicians who play in the Newburyport Chamber Music Festival, held in August, and at the Ten Center Street Restaurant.

At the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Market Square, photographer Robert Loren Lerch will be showing his works. There will be artist reception on Sunday from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

The ArtWalk is being held on Saturday August 17th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00pm to 5:00 pm, and is a self-guided tour at no charge.
