Snowflake Festival a success for preschool

Thursday, February 7, was an evening to be remembered for those at Northeast School. Appropriately, there were some flurries to be seen that night, but the main event sparkled much more than the light snowfall.

The Snowflake Festival, hosted by The Vernon Preschool Collaborative, featured a story session with a representative from the Rockville Public Library, jumpstart music, classroom reports, and a presentation for visiting parents.

The Vernon Preschool Collaborative, an NAEYC accredited children’s program dedicated to early childhood learning, is collaboration between EASTCONN Head Start and Vernon Public Schools. The Collaborative is composed of part-day programs for preschool-aged children at each of Vernon’s elementary schools and holds other educational family-friendly events. Superintendent Mary Conway of Vernon Public Schools notes:

“NAEYC accreditation tells us that we are on the right track for ensuring that our early childhood programs are of the highest quality…it’s a goal of the Vernon board, the state commissioner of education and Connecticut’s governor to ensure that our children are well-prepared for school.”

Those who are interested in joining the program for the 2013-2014 year with children (ages 3 and up) should contact Jen Dennin at 860-870-6000 ext. 137 and have their application completed before March 26, 2013.

Events like the Snowflake Festival have brought families together from local communities to create a strong learning environment for young children. In an effort to further promote the program and family events such as the Snowflake Festival, The Vernon Preschool Collaborative might consider using flyer printing and poster printing services.
