Seven Lakes bicycle ride benefit helps eastern CT

June 15, 2013 by

The inaugural Seven Lakes Ride for bikers will kick off in late June to fundraise for patients at the Eastern CT Cancer Institute (ECCI).

For bikers in the area, or those who just love an athletic challenge, this event looks set to be the perfect fit. The Seven Lakes Ride is a non-competitive event organized by Nerac Earth Cycling Club with 25-mile and 62-mile options. They all begin in Stafford Springs and travel through towns like Union, Ashford, Willington, and Woodstock then heading through Massachusetts.

This great opportunity will benefit ECCI in multiple ways. The group supports cancer patients with advanced technology, kind professionals, and top-of-the-line treatments, and the Seven Lakes Ride proceeds will go towards helping the Institute to keep assisting those in need.

The 65-mile ride starts at 8:00 am with a cost of $35, and the 25-mile ride will start at 9:00 am with a cost of $25 at Stafford High School. Participants can register online to save, as there will be an added $10 fee for day-of registration. A fun, free gift of a T-shirt will be given for the first 50 pre-registered participants that sign up by today (June 15). Visit the Seven Lakes Ride website for more information on what participants should bring and details about rest stops along the journey.

Fundraising events like this one will likely draw a lot of participants and, as it is the inaugural event, organizers will perhaps need to reach out to those in surrounding towns like Vernon, Tolland and Mansfield, perhaps with the help of print companies, to ensure maximum reach in time for the June 30 event.
