Norwalk residents readying for spectacular Stamford parade

Just a hop, skip, and a jump from Norwalk, Stamford Town Center and Advocate/Hearst Media will present its 20th Annual UBS Parade Spectacular later this month.

More than 100,000 people came to this holiday giant balloon parade last year, solidifying its claim as one of the country’s largest events of its kind.

Some of the parade’s 16 giant balloons will include standards such as Big Bird, Elmo, Fred Flintstone, and the Lorax. This year will also see new additions like Ya Gabba Gabba characters Foofa and Plex. Eight marching bands from local schools, along with the NYPD Emerald Society Pipe & Drum Band and the Saints Brigade Drum & Bugle Corps, will provide the pulsating at the heart of the parade.

Dance troupes will be participating, along with marching units honor guards, and dignitaries from around the region—all waving and performing for the crowds. The event would not be complete without floats of course, with interesting names such as Living Green in The Emerald City, the Mac & Ruby, the Fox Rockin’ Holiday, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, the Nutcracker Ballet, and the Impossible Dream.

The SAC Capital Advisors Giant Balloon Inflation Party starts things rolling on Saturday, November 23 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Hoyt and Summer Streets. Those who wish to promote the event may want to contact banner printing companies. Viewers will be able to watch as the balloons are filled in a fun setting.

The parade will be held November 24, starting at 12:00 noon at Stamford Town Center.
