Monroe Little League registration set to begin

It’s that’s time of year to start thinking about the upcoming baseball and softball seasons. Online registration for the 2012 Monroe Little League (MLL) season will be accepted starting Monday, January 16 through Sunday, January 29th. If you miss the first the registration deadline, you’ll have a second opportunity from Monday, January 30 to Sunday, February 5.

Registration fees for the spring season range between $180 and $365 depending on the sport. More specific information on fees is available by logging onto the MLL website,

Parents are invited to attend a question and answer session from 9:30 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 28 at Monroe Elementary School. Parents will not be allowed to sign-up their child during the session because all little league registrations must be conducted online.

First time players must provide a birth certificate. Both new and returning players must have three documents that show their current address. Acceptable proof of residency forms, include a valid driver’s license, current school record and a utility bill. It’s unlikely that digital business cards listing your home address would be acceptable. Proof of residency papers can also be mailed to: MLL, P.O. Box 339, Monroe, CT 06468.

The informational session will also offer an opportunity to sign up for volunteer work. There are many ways you can support your child’s involvement in the Monroe Little League. The MLL needs managers, coaches, umpires, team moms, and people to work at the concession stand.

Sample uniforms also will be on display during the one day session. MLL plays a vital role in youth athletic development, according to its publicity material.
