Good news for Hartford pets waiting for their forever homes

Emily Balducci, owner of the Emily Rose Style Group salon in Glastonbury, Connecticut, four miles from Hartford, knows that great pets can be found anywhere—she adopted her dog Sydney from a shelter. When she found out that dogs and cats now in the East Hartford’s Protector of Animals shelter and the Hartford Animal Shelter needed some basic items to assure their comfort, she decided to do something about it and has designated the salon as a collection point for donations for the animals.

The drive runs from November 2 through December 1 and the items on the ‘wish list’ include cat and dog food (both dry and canned), treats for dogs and cats, tennis balls for the dogs to play with, washable toys suitable for both cats and dogs, dog bedding (without foam), and leashes, harnesses, and collars.

Balducci said she decided to organize the drive after reading that the animals lacked many basic necessities, and also because the cold Connecticut winter is just ahead. Anyone who makes a donation will have a chance to win a complimentary haircut and blow-dry during December, just in time for the holidays. The salon is located at 36 Welles Street in Glastonbury and further information can be found at their website or by calling Emily at (860) 657-9093.

With Balducci hoping for a good turnout, it would not be surprising if flyer printing and poster printing were to be used to promote the drive.
