Fit and Fun Fest held in Greenwich

Last weekend, the Kids in the Kitchen Fit and Fun Fest occurred for the second year in a row at the Greenwich YWCA. Most likely the Junior League of Greenwich, which sponsored the event, turned to a variety of printing services to attract as many kids as possible to this health awareness event.

There were 14 food vendors from the area and close to 23 health, fitness, and wellness organizations at the event, which was set up to enable children to participate in a variety of activities and sample different types of foods.

According to Debbi Mirron, Chair of the Fest for 2014, there were dentists, doctors, and chiropractors at the event to teach children how to stay healthy. There were also food demonstrations wherein children were provided with options for getting a good head start to eating healthy.

The president of the Greenwich Junior League, Cindy Lyall, said one of the goals of the Fest is to expose children to new foods and to different activities so they can see that getting and staying healthy can be fun.

Kevin Reese, a Holistic Health Practitioner, said that smoothies have a lot of sunlight in them and can be a good way for parents to make a healthy diet fun for their kids. Keeping a child moving throughout the day can also go a long way to staying at a healthy weight and developing overall confidence.
