Fairfield residents gearing up for Shop N Stroll

December 5, 2013 by

The Town of Fairfield and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce will soon be hosting Fairfield’s first annual Shop N Stroll with the intent to promote shopping in downtown Fairfield, and to herald in the holiday season.

The shopping will occur in the many shops in downtown Fairfield that will be open late to encourage local and regional shoppers to buy for their Christmas needs in their own town. Holiday bargain hunters will be greeted with seasonal refreshments and hors d’oeuvres as they search for that special item. The strolling will be done on Sherman Green and throughout the downtown area, while groups of musicians and local high school carolers mill through the crowd performing and singing traditional carols. The event could be titled “Shop N Stroll N Eat” because downtown restaurants will serve drinks and dinner all evening as well.

To announce the event, First Selectman Tetreau issued a press release noting that:

“…this is a great opportunity to support our local businesses and get your holiday shopping done while enjoying a fun night out with family or friends.”

Beverly Balaz, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, agreed and added that this will give Fairfield businesses another chance to bring in more customers from the town, as well as the surrounding areas.

Although the deadline for printing companies and other businesses to sign up to take part in this event has passed, anyone already registered can still have flyers and more digital business cards printed.

The event will be held Thursday, December 12, with individual businesses holding their own hours.
