Local high school to hold food benefit concert

The Enrico Fermi High School Music Department will be holding a benefit concert to assist the Enfield Food Shelf in gathering donations. Featuring performances from a jazz group, string orchestra, and chorus collection, all proceeds from the event will go to the Enfield Food Shelf.

The beneficiary was first established in the late 1960s as part of an informal gathering of local people looking to make a difference in the community. Participants asked for donations and then handed them out as needed. From that small beginning was born the incorporated entity that today hosts events throughout the year with the same goal of ensuring that a lack of resources does not lead to hunger in the area.

Those who wish to attend the benefit concert are encouraged to bring someone with them and to promote the event if possible—the more people that attend, the more donations received. Some may wish to contract with a local print company for flyer or poster printing for distribution.

The Benefit Concert will be held Thursday March 16th at 6:30 pm in the Enrico Fermi High School Auditorium, 124 N Maple St, Enfield. Admission will be one non-perishable food item, such as can of vegetables or box of dried goods. Those who wish to donate more are free to do so.
