Danbury invited on a musical sleigh ride

For the second year in a row, the Arts and Humanities Division of Naugatuck Valley Community College and The Naugatuck Valley Community College Student Government Association will be presenting their holiday concert. This year’s event is called “Sleigh Ride – Celebrating the Season with Music from Around the World” and will be featuring the Connecticut Pops.

The music director Richard Gard and the dance director of NVCC Repertory Dancers Dana Rainey have put together a globe-hopping musical multicultural trip of holiday music and dancing, including traditional well-known favorites such as music from the movie ‘Polar Express’ along with some not-so-well-known pieces such as ‘Calypso Christmas’. There will be a slide show, and children and adults will be able to enter raffles.

The 40-member community concert band is comprised of amateur, student, and professional musicians who come together every Tuesday evening from September through May to enjoy playing music under the baton of the award-winning conductor and teacher, Richard Gard. The band performs four or five times a year, usually at the Mainstage Theatre, but also occasionally plays at local festivals and other venues. Interested music enthusiasts may want to use local printing services to produce flyers for this event.

The production will be held at the Mainstage Theatre, Naugatuck Valley Community College, 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury on December 8 at 3:00 pm. Admission and parking is free but seating is limited to just 500 guests on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
