Winter walk scheduled for Murray Hill birders

January 19, 2018 by

Murray Hill birders are invited to spend some time watching their feathered friends in Green-Wood who have stayed behind and braved the cold while their compatriots have traveled south.

Those who come to ‘Birding in Peace’ will have an opportunity to observe chickadees, woodpeckers, nuthatches, finches, sparrows and an assortment of waterfowl who have made this National Historic Landmark their winter home. Depending on the weather, they might even be able to catch a glimpse of birds who have decided to come north a little bit earlier than the rest.

Anyone who is interested is welcome, and they are asked to check in at the Gothic Arches before heading out. When they do, they can pick up their copy of the site’s official birding checklist, which will include species they might be able to observe. Items like this can be designed and printed by a local printing services provider.

The ticket price for the outing starts at $10 for members of Green-Wood or the BHS, and $15 for the general public. It is scheduled to begin at 7:00 am, and it will wind up at 8:30 am.

This opportunity to observe some of the area’s hardier birds in their urban habitat will be held on February 11. More information about this outing and other events and programs that are offered by the organizer can be found on its event listing.
