Event planned to help feed the hungry in Murray Hill

February 3, 2017 by

As winter turns to spring, several restaurants from Murray Hill will be joining others across the city, and members of the public as well, in helping to feed the less fortunate.

According to the event’s organizers, as many as 20% of the area’s residents have issues with food insecurity. Brooklynfeeds will be seeking to both raise awareness and funding for not-for-profit groups that work to make sure that everyone has enough to eat. Those who plan a locally based event like this can use poster printing to create materials that market it throughout the community.

Participating eateries have agreed to donate a portion of their day’s profits to the organization of its choice, so long as it is one that addresses the issue of food insecurity in the community. The organizers have already been able to secure the participation of several local establishments and they have put a call out to any others that are willing to lend a hand. Anyone who is interested in lending their support or finding other ways they can help can do so by contacting jfriedlin@hungrymktg.com.

The Brookynfeeds day of action has been planned for March 7. A listing of businesses that have chosen to participate, as well as further details about the event itself and the establishments that are lending it their financial support, can be found by visiting its website.
