Showcase for seniors comes to Mt. Pleasant

March 2, 2017 by

The Senior Expo of the Medical University of South Carolina Senior Center will be held at the Omar Convention Center in Mt. Pleasant later this month.

The expo is for seniors in the community, their caregivers and service providers so they can learn about those resources available in the Lowcountry of South Carolina from researchers and physicians from the Medical University of South Carolina. There will be screenings, cooking and exercise demonstrations, and interactive assessments as well as food and raffle prizes. Those participating in the Expo can use booklet printing to print more information about their services and offerings so attendees can take home this information for further scrutiny.

The Center on Aging looks to provide resources of various kinds, focusing on research, service, and education. It works both with the organizations in the community and with the faculty, students and staff of the Medical Center. The goal of the Center is to enable the growing demographic of older adults to remain educated on healthy aging strategies and to stay active and engaged in their daily lives.

Among the exhibitors from the community will be the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, All About Seniors Magazine, the Charleston Public Library, and Home Instead Senior Care.

The Senior Expo will be held on Thursday March 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
