Mt. Pleasant becomes home to new major shopping center

Ground was recently broken on the second new shopping center in Mt. Pleasant, based in the Charleston region.

Lowes Foods will anchor the property, which is 16 acres in size and will be called The Market at Mill Creek. The supermarket itself spans 50,000 square feet will be a direct competitor to a Harris Teeter grocery in the vicinity.

The Market at Mill Creek is joint project between Armada Hoffler Properties of Virginia and Adams Property Group, both based in Charleston, and will include a fueling station with 12 pumps adjacent to The Gates at Dune West subdivision, as well as 24,000 square feet of retail space. The project is expected to cost over $20m to construct.

Among the tenants who have already signed up for the retail space are Sea Island Urgent Care, Nail Club, Hwy 41 Wine and Spirits, and Agaves Cantina.

Jack Coupland of Adams Property Group said that the rapid growth in population in Mt. Pleasant and its demographics have resulted in a high demand for retail space, especially given that the available space in the area to rent is limited.

Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays throughout the community so that people can track the progress of such developments, and make a note of the opening dates of retail establishments.
