Morton Grove area musical celebration planned for Mozart’s birthday

This month will mark the 262nd anniversary of the birth of famous composer Mozart, and a special celebration of music has been planned near Morton Grove in his honor.

The evening, which will be conducted by Music of the Baroque’s Music Director Jane Glover, will include performances of three of the Austrian classical composer’s pieces. The selections for the event will be Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Violin & Viola, K. 364 as well as his Symphony No. 33 in B-flat Major and K. 319, and Sinfonia Concertante for 4 Winds, K. 297b.

To help the audience gain a deeper understanding of the composer and his works, a pre-concert lecture will take place before the musical program begins. This will be held in the Athens Room of the Doubletree Hotel, which is adjacent to Skokie’s North Shore Center where the concert will be held. It will be given by Carl Grapentine, and all those who plan on taking in the performance are welcome. A local printer can use graphic design to craft special commemorative programs for an event like this.

This musical celebration of Mozart is set to be held on Sunday, January 28 in Skokie. Tickets can be purchased through the Music of the Baroque’s Box Office or by visiting its website, which also includes a list of the other concerts and events scheduled throughout the year.
