The exhibit ‘Africa Now! Contemporary Art by African Women’ is taking place for three weeks next month at Ellarslie Mansion.

The exhibition is curated by Kali McMillan and the featured works are taken from the collection of Diana Tyson. The four artists participating in the show are Mercy Moyo from Zimbabwe, Ritah Nabuyungo and Lilane Nabulime from Uganda, and Durhiwe Rushemeza from Rwanda. Works on display will include paintings and sculptures.

The public is welcome to attend the opening reception on February 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Following this will be a gallery walk and panel discussion on February 17 from 1:00 to 3:30 PM. The topic of discussion will be how women are shaping current African art.

The closing reception is set for February 25 from 1:00 to 3:30 PM, during which guests will have the opportunity to meet the featured artists.

No doubt people who enjoy graphic design and art from surrounding areas like Morrisville will be interested in attending this show. The gallery is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 12:00 to 4:00 PM and from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday. Admission is “pay what you can”.

The exhibition will be on display at the Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie from February 4 to 25. For more information, call the venue at 609-989-3624.
